Conference information
We are full and only putting people on waitlists for the conference at this point. As space becomes available, we will admit people. Sorry!!!!!!
The scientific sessions of the fifth international conference on “Advances in Canine and Feline Genomics and Inherited Diseases" will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 through Saturday, September 25, 2010 (about 4:30pm) at the Baltimore Marriot Waterfront Hotel (click here for making hotel reservations and travel information), Baltimore, MD, USA.
The conference will bring together researchers studying the genomes of dogs and cats as well as those studying comparative genomics, hereditary diseases and polymorphic traits.
Dog and cat genomes, which have been recently sequenced, offer a unique opportunity to study the genetic basis of the various morphological but also behavioral traits that characterized the large number of breeds created over the centuries. Additionally, most of the breeds of these two species, as a consequence of intense inbreeding practices aimed at selecting traits of interest, are also unfortunately plagued by many diseases of genetic origin of which several are the counterpart of genetic diseases endured by humans. The advent of recent genomic advances, including comprehensive SNP chips, offers specific avenues to study both simple and complex genetic disorders for the sake of our pets and also for ourselves.
